We are always looking to add to our chorus with singers who are enthusiastic about performing, competing, improving their vocal skills and having fun! If you have a good ear for music, we want you!As a member of Diablo Vista Chorus, you are also a Sweet Adeline, and you'll have support and encouragement whether your goal is to sing on the risers, perform in your community, or compete on the regional or international stage. We would love for you to find your place with us!
What We Do
Each weekly DVC rehearsal is a three-hour lesson in good vocal and performance technique. We rehearse on Tuesdays and start singing at 6:30 p.m. Throughout the year, we produce one big stage show or fundraiser each fall, and in the spring, we participate in regional competition with other area choruses.
How Do I Become a Member?
All prospective members attend a few rehearsals before applying for membership. When you’re ready, let the Membership Coordinator know that you want to audition and they will explain how to prepare.
What is the Time Commitment for DVC Members?
Members are expected to arrive in advance of the start time and be on the risers by 6:30 p.m. for vocal calibration. Members are expected to practice their music and choreography between rehearsals and attend periodic weekend coaching sessions throughout the year.
We are Sweet Adelines
Sweet Adelines International is a worldwide organization committed to elevating women singers worldwide through education, performance, and competition in barbershop harmony and a cappella music.
We sing a cappella music in four-part barbershop style. When four voice parts simultaneously execute on time and on pitch, the chord will produce a “fifth note” called an overtone. Hearing overtones “ring” is a special kind of magic!
Our members, who are from diverse backgrounds, of all different ages and occupations, are universally connected through song. As a Sweet Adeline, you will have support and community extending from New York to New Zealand — Sweet Adelines are everywhere!
